What an amazing few months we’ve had with the return of Running Cubs. It will start back up in this Fall. See you then!
- Open House and 5th grade State Fair were amazing! I went through all the classes today where our students shared how much they loved vising Chaparral with their families. They enjoyed seeing friends and visiting our specialists including art and music, the Library, our Counselor, the playground, and the areas they go to during their school day.
- Spirit Challenge Week right after Memorial Day to finish out the year. Our traditional “Wacky Week” is May 31st through June 3rd. This week is always a fun way to show your CUB spirit in a “wacky” way. Click Here for May 31 – June 3 Spirit Challenges
- COVID numbers have been higher in L.A. County and I do not want our plans for the end of the year to change, as we are almost there. We do not have control over many things, but let’s continue to be vigilant and remember to make choices that will help keep your family and all C.U.B.S. safe.

As seen in the pictures, this playground includes multiple climbing options, slides, monkey bars and numerous ways to have fun! Located on our lower level, this playground will be used by all grade levels throughout the year and was made possible by donation to our PFC Donor Drive! Your generous donations allow for campus improvements that directly impact the Chaparral CUBS!! A special thank you to our CUBS Committee for overseeing this project: Grace Fisher, Felice Becker, and Stacy Dishlip. We are so excited to see the students enjoy the playground equipment for years to come!

We had an incredible Kindness Challenge Week. The participation by students and staff with the Spirit Challenges was epic. So many of our classes had 100% participation. Students worked hard to spread kindness all over school. Our library now has many kindness bookmarks made for use in the library by all students. I have included pictures in this message. We finished the week with an assembly after our fire drill where we shared the Kindness Chain we put together schoolwide. Each link on the chain contains a special message of hope, love, and kindness. It is a beautiful reminder that we are truly connected. We will be posting our “Kindness Unites” chain in the library as a great reminder of the power of kindness. Kindness has the power to unite us all! Go C.U.B.S!

The 2022 Chaparral PFC Online Auction is only a few weeks away! This is our second biggest fundraiser and in 2019 hosted parties brought in over $20,000!
A hosted party is an event planned by a group of Chaparral parents. The details; theme, date, and number of attendees are up to you! Parties can be for kids or adults. Popular themes for kids are swimming, bowling, game truck, beach and park playdates. Popular themes for adults are Mom or Dads nights out and Parent theme parties. We are hopeful that by the time we can have these parties they can be in person (depending on the safety guidelines at the time of the parties). See and fill out Auction Party Form HERE.
Start planning now and e-mail your party details, by February 4th to firstname.lastname@example.org
We’re also collecting regular donation items such as restaurant and retail store gift cards as well as big ticket items like sports tickets and theme park tickets. Please let us know if you have anything to donate!
The success of our auction depends on all of us!!
We rely on our volunteers to help make all of our events run smoothly. Thank You to those who came out on Friday to help pass out Rapid Tests for our Cubs Community.

Happy Holidays Cubs! – As we close out 2021, we want to wish all of our CUBS and their families a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year! We are so fortunate that our CUBS have been able to participate in school activities and events as a result of your support and commitment to Chaparral. We want to thank and celebrate our families who have contributed to our Donor Drive, Food Drive, Book Fair, and Motor for Toys. Thank you for participating in our community fundraising events, Trunk-Or-Treat and Read-A-Thon. Thanks to your generosity, we have installed our new safety fence and look forward to the installation of a new playground on the lower yard this Spring. The past few months have been so much fun and we can’t wait to enjoy an eventful 2022!!
We look forward to continuing to build our Chaparral community and together we can enjoy the many upcoming family events planned for the new year. Go C.U.B.S! Happy New Year!
Principal Brazell, Julie and Lindsay
Huge Thank You to Jodi Dalyai and Margaret Scarborough Greer for organizing Chaparral’s Annual Toy Drive with Motor4Toys! It was a HUGE success. The donation of toys was our largest one yet. We were told by the organizer, Mr. Dustin Troyan, and the Chevrolet Car Club that they were bringing the toys to an underprivileged community that very day. Great job CUBS!
