3rd Grade In-person Learning returns December 7th

3rd Grade In-person Learning returns December 7th

Here are some important items for our third-grade families to be mindful of:

  • When 3rd graders return to campus, we will have a split day with a morning cohort and an afternoon cohort of live instruction. This is the same schedule as our TK- 2 students. Our bell schedule is linked here: CLICK HERE FOR SCHEDULE
  • If a 3rd-grade sibling is in TK-2, we will assign the 3rd-grade student to the same cohort as the sibling. If a 3rd grader does not have a sibling already in AM or PM, please complete the following survey by Monday, November 16th at 5:00 PM, indicating that you prefer the afternoon or have no preference: CLICK HERE.
  • Early next week, we will be using a randomized lottery process to sort the remaining students into morning and afternoon cohorts. We will communicate student schedules to families before the Thanksgiving holiday, likely on November 20. Please know that we are doing a lottery process out of fairness to all students. We will not be able to entertain or negotiate AM/PM preferences with families. Thank you for your understanding.
  •  As mentioned in Dr. Stepenosky’s email, we will need to have an abbreviated live instructional day for 3rd graders from November 30 – December 4 to support their teacher’s planning and return to campus.

It will be beside the blue book return box, by the mural and flagpole. If you have any questions, email Mrs. Davis at

Music With Mrs. Chaffee

Music With Mrs. Chaffee

The PFC is committed to returning Chaparral’s special programs to our kids. Because of our fundraising efforts and the generous support of our families to Donor Drive, we have been able to re-hire the fabulous Mrs. Beverly Chaffe. This music program is a direct benefit of the money raised by our PFC, and demonstrates why your support is so important.

Mrs. Chaffee has developed a virtual music classroom and will introduce lessons live for all grades, including Virtual Academy. Your child’s teacher will be sending home more information about music this week. It is not too late to donate to support this and other programs *coming soon* to Chaparral! Click Here to make your donation.

Presidents’ Message – Sept 2020

Hello Chaparral Families,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! Whether you are attending Virtual Academy or “On Campus” learning we are one united Chaparral community! As your Co-Presidents, we are excited to lead you into this new school year and provide the best experience for our children.

We have been working all summer to ensure that this year is the best it can be for our kids and community, and are getting creative to do just that! Although things won’t be the same, we are looking forward to new ways to connect, engage, and fundraise to give our kids the very best!

As always, we are open to your input, ideas, and help. Please reach out to anytime! Our first Zoom PFC Meeting will be on Friday, September 11th at 8:15 am. Please join us to discuss the upcoming year, events we have planned and how you can get involved. We are so grateful for your support!

To our FAMILIES who have already donated to our annual Donor Drive, THANK YOU. Your donations are extremely important! You can make your annual Donor Drive contribution at ParentSquare: Payments. Please help us reach our goal of 100% participation in 100 days! We are working to add back specialists and staff as donations and scheduling permits and need to prepare for the day we can return to On Campus learning. Without your donations, none of that will be possible.

We want to thank the PARENTS of our community! Not only because you have stepped up and helped in unimaginable ways, but also for your patience and perseverance in all of the new roles you have assumed at home. You are incredible! Thank you for supporting your fellow parents as well as your own families. THANK YOU to our amazing EXECUTIVE BOARD and PFC committee and event chairs. With your help, we will make this year great for our community!

We are so grateful to have an incredible ADMINISTRATION who has worked tirelessly without pause to ensure our children’s success. THANK YOU especially to Mrs. Brazell, Mrs. Donna Welti and Mrs. Lampert for all you have done and continue to do for our children and school! We are so grateful our school is under your leadership through this difficult time.

We are only as strong as each of us and we are so grateful to be a part of this amazing and strong community. Thank you for your commitment to your kids, school and community!
